Why Were People Thinner in the 1970s and What Has Changed Over Time?

When we flip through family albums or look at old photographs from the 1970s, one detail repeatedly stands out and is impossible to ignore: most people appeared thinner. This wasn't just true for artists, athletes, or public figures, but for ordinary people: parents, grandparents, neighbors, groups of friends at the beach, or simple gatherings. More slender bodies, less visible overweight, and a general appearance very different from today. This observation often sparks an inevitable question: what did we do differently so that excess weight wasn't as common as it is today?
